A free, private Medicare counseling appointment will be offered Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Cheney meeting room. Registration is required by phone at 509.777.1592. Attendees should bring their Medicare card along with a current list of prescriptions.

Part D and Medicare Advantage coverage and costs may shift from year to year. A trained Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) volunteer can help each person examine and compare the available 2027 options based on individual needs. SHIBA’s counseling is confidential and unbiased, and its statewide volunteer network assists and advocates for Medicare consumers.

Any requested plan changes must be filed within the 2026 open enrollment period, which begins October 15 and ends December 7. That makes the Cheney session a chance for local Medicare enrollees to evaluate prescription costs and coverage before the window closes.

Aging & Long Term Care of Eastern Washington (ALTCEW) sponsors SHIBA locally and provides Medicare education. For hearing assistance, ASL, or another accommodation at the library, contact comments@scld.org or 509.893.8200 at least five business days beforehand.
