Terrain Gallery Opens “Critical Infrastructure” Exhibition

The show features work by Spokane-area arts professionals who rarely display their own creations.

Critical Infrastructure puts the personal artwork of regional arts professionals in the spotlight. Participants include gallery and museum leaders, nonprofit founders, educators and advocates whose careers usually center on presenting other people’s work. For this exhibition, they were asked to create something new and reconnect with the creativity that shaped their careers.

Visitors will encounter ceramics, photographs, prints and paintings, along with mixed-media pieces and sculpture. The artists share an unusual position: art is not how they earn their living, but their daily work keeps them closely connected to artists and the regional creative community.

Artist, educator and journalist Carrie Scozzaro organized the show. Participants include Ali Blackwood, Eva Silverstone, Jeni Riplinger, Jennifer LaRue, Katie Patterson Larson, Megan Cherry and others connected with organizations including the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, Jordan Schnitzer Museum WSU, Front Room Gallery, Marmot Art Space and Spokane International Academy. The opening aligns with First Friday. The exhibition remains at Terrain Gallery through October 31st, with free public hours from 4pm–7pm each Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 628 N Monroe St, Spokane, WA 99201.
