Private Medicare counseling is scheduled in Spokane Valley for Thursday, November 12, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM. Sessions will take place in the Diane E. Zahand Meeting Room West. Advance registration is mandatory, and appointments can be arranged by calling 509.777.1592. Attendees should have their Medicare card and current prescription list with them.

A trained Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) volunteer can help residents examine Part D and Medicare Advantage options for 2027. Because plan prices and benefits may shift each year, the counseling is designed to help consumers compare choices based on their individual needs. Requested coverage changes must be filed within the open enrollment period, which runs from October 15 through December 7, 2026.

SHIBA offers counseling that is free, impartial and private. Its statewide volunteer network supports and advocates for Medicare consumers as part of Washington’s Office of the Insurance Commissioner. Aging & Long Term Care of Eastern Washington sponsors SHIBA locally and provides Medicare education, along with information and support concerning memory loss, dementia and fall prevention.

For accommodations at an in-person library event, requests should be made at least five business days beforehand. Residents can call 509.893.8200 or email comments@scld.org regarding hearing assistance, ASL or other ADA needs.
