Older adults who want more confidence on their feet can take part in A Matter of Balance at the Moran Prairie meeting room. The first session is Monday, October 26, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., and the series continues through eight small-group meetings. The remaining dates are October 28; November 2, 4, 9, 16, 18, and 23, 2026.

Participants work through activity goals, ways to make their surroundings safer, and gentle movements aimed at flexibility, strength, and balance. Meetings also include conversation, shared problem-solving, and idea generation, with a workbook for each person. Registration is required by phone at 509.777.1571. SHIBA and Aging & Long Term Care of Eastern Washington support the program; SHIBA offers free, unbiased, confidential Medicare counseling, while ALTCEW provides Medicare education and support related to fall prevention, dementia, and memory loss. Library events are intended to welcome people of all abilities.
