Families with children ages 2-5 can spend Wednesday, October 14, 2026, learning through play at 10:30 AM in the Meeting Room in Medical Lake. The session starts with picture books, music and fingerplays, giving children 30 minutes to participate with their parents or caregivers.

The next half hour turns to hands-on exploration of math, science, art and literacy. Adults join the activities, helping children practice early reading, STEAM and social skills connected to kindergarten while enjoying time together. Those ideas can also continue at home, and children can receive a library card to use for years.

Library space is limited, so groups with 10 or more people should call ahead. Spokane County Library District says its in-person events are intended to welcome people of all abilities; accommodation requests, including hearing assistance or ASL, should be made at least five business days before an event by emailing comments@scld.org or calling 509.893.8200.
